Chateau Lafleur 2012
Pomerol,
Classic in style but racy and harmonious. Pure and expressive on the nose. Berry fruits with a hint of mint. Beautifully balanced on the palate and so, so long. Not the density of a 2005 or 2010 but perfect pitch. 18.75/20pts ( 95 /100pts)
Drink: 2022 – 2035
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau Pétrus 2012
Pomerol,
One of the stars this year. Ripe, seductive nose with blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorish notes. Shows upfront charm but the palate has power, depth and distinction. Rounded tannins. Superb length. 18.5/20pts ( 95/100pts)
Drink: 2022 – 2040
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau Le Pin 2012
Pomerol,
A really elegant Le Pin. Fine, fresh, floral nose. Silky texture and tannins. Discreet but has length, depth and plenty of energy. 18.25/20pts ( 94/100pts)
Drink: 2020 – 2032
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau La Conseillante 2012
Pomerol,
Less Cabernet Franc than usual (11%). Nose ripe and round with expressive blackcurrant notes. Palate impressive. Long and well-constructed with a certain power. Delicious wine. 17.5/20pts ( 91/100pts)
Drink: 2018 – 2030
Taster: James Lawther MW

Vieux Chateau Certan 2012
Pomerol,
Great wine but doesn’t quite hit the heights of 2011. 12% Cabernet Franc compared to 30% in 2011. Fresh, floral and fragrant on the palate and nose. Great purity and finesse on the palate.. 17.75/20pts ( 92/100pts)
Drink: 2019 – 2035
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau L’Église-Clinet 2012
Pomerol,
Rich, ripe and dense. Expressive red berry nose with toasted oak evident. Sweet, plush mid-palate (heightened by 14.5% alcohol although that doesn’t show). Long, firm finish. A touch dry on the end. 17.5/20pts ( 91/100pts)
Drink: 2020 – 2032
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau Trotanoy 2012
Pomerol,
Maintains the gravitas associated with this cru. Dense, dark fruit aroma with a floral-violet note. Layers of fruit on the palate. Firm, ripe tannins. 17.5/20pts ( 91/100pts)
Drink: 2018 – 2032
Taster: James Lawther MW

Chateau La Fleur-Pétrus 2012
Pomerol,
Includes recently purchased parcels (4.7ha) near Le Pin. Fragrant, long and fresh with a little more weight and breadth than in the past. 17.25/20pts ( 90 /100pts)
Drink: 2018 – 2030
Taster: James Lawther MW
